Public Safety Scheduling and Timekeeping

Posted by Ashley McGowen on Aug. 1, 2023  /   6

What software solution(s) do you utilize for public safety (fire, police, e911) scheduling and timekeeping? Does the solution(s) meet your needs? What ERP/HCM do you utilize, and does the scheduling and timekeeping integrate with your ERP/HCM? Thank you, Ashley McGowen (she/her) Deputy Finance Director City of Grand Junction O: 970-256-4012

At Jeffco Sheriff, we use Telestaff. We used to have it set up as our time entry system for sworn, and data would flow to Kronos. When the county ditched Kronos and went to Workday, we implemented time and absence, and designed Workday schedules - however there are no true scheduling functions for public safety needs in Workday. So we use Telestaff and manually update schedules in both places to keep them in sync, hoping that Workday comes up with a scheduling solution down the road.

We use Vector Scheduling, but likely will be transitioning to ESO in January. Payroll is via ADP.

At City of Boulder, we use UKG Telestaff for both Fire and Police that imports into Workday payroll. Telestaff works well for Fire (so I've heard) but is very complicated and cumbersome for Police (I work for the Police Department). We have lots of complicated schedule changes that take a lot of finagling on the admin staff to make work correctly. We've been on the system for 10 months and we are still working out issues. Northglenn PD uses PowerTime (used to be PlanIt) and it does have an export feature to import to our Springbrook payroll system.

We use ESO scheduling. It meets our needs to complex scheduling that includes 24-48, 10 hour, 8 hour employees and allows for shift bidding and trading. Let me know if you need more information. 970-926-5270 Eagle County Paramedic Services.

Hi Veronica: What company do you use for payroll processing? We're looking to move to ESO in January...curious if it works well with ADP or other payroll services? Jen @ Timberline Fire
