Navigating Difficult Conversations
Description:
This session equips CGFOA members with practical frameworks and structures for navigating difficult conversations when emotions run high, conflict arises, or clarity is needed. Participants will learn how to combine directness with respect, maintain self-regulation under pressure, and facilitate productive dialogue that strengthens team cohesion and professional relations in the workplace.
Grounded in real-world practice and informed by the realities of public sector leadership, this workshop provides tools you can apply immediately with staff, partners, clients, and stakeholders. You’ll practice structured approaches that reduce defensiveness, build mutual agreements, and support ethical, high-quality service across your organization. Leaders will leave with concrete conversation models for feedback, conflict de-escalation, and decision making that enhance workplace culture and performance.
